Overview
How to update an existing material in your Materials library — name, unit, pricing, category, and stock parameters — and how the change ripples through future quotes and supplier-invoice matching.
Who This Is For
Business Owner, Sole Trader, Admin, and Supervisor.
Before You Start
- The material you need to update already exists in your Materials library.
- Editing a material’s price affects only future quotes and jobs. Existing draft quotes and active jobs are not retroactively changed.
Steps
- In the sidebar (or main menu), select Materials.
- Search for or locate the material that needs editing.
- Open the material row, card, or edit action.
- Update the fields that need changing — for example name, description, unit, cost, markup, selling price, category, or location.
- Select Update (or Save Changes).
- Confirm the material list shows the updated information.
What Happens Next
The updated material values apply to any new quote, job, or supplier-invoice line that uses this material from this point on. Existing draft quotes and active jobs keep the values they were created with.
