Business Owners, Sole Traders, Admin, and Supervisor. Finance, Tradie, and Apprentice typically cannot create or maintain materials.

Overview

Add a product, part, or consumable to your Materials library so it is available for quotes, jobs, and supplier invoices.

Before you start

Have the material’s name, unit of measure, cost, markup or selling price, category, and any storage location(s) with on-hand quantities. Categories must already exist before you can assign one — if the category you need is missing, create it first via the Add Category button at the top of the Materials page.

Steps

  1. In the left sidebar, select Materials.
  2. Select Add Material.
  3. Enter the material name.
  4. (Optional) Add a description.
  5. Choose the unit (kg, sqm, m, each, or another available unit).
  6. Enter the cost.
  7. (Optional) Enter a markup percentage to calculate the selling price, or enter the selling price directly.
  8. Select a category from the dropdown. If the category you need is missing, cancel this draft, return to the Materials page, select Add Category (top right), create the category, then come back and add the material.
  9. (Optional) Add a location and the quantity held there. Repeat for additional locations.
  10. Select Create.

What happens next

The material is saved to the library and available throughout the platform — quote line items, materials on jobs, supplier invoice matching, and inventory transactions. Editing a material’s price affects only future records; existing draft quotes and jobs keep the prices they had at creation.

Add a Supplier, Upload a supplier invoice, Create and send a quote, Create a job manually.
