What This Feature Does
MyApprentice sends an email notification to a worker at the time their shift assignment changes. This applies when a worker is newly assigned to a shift, when an existing assigned shift is updated, and when a shift is reassigned from one worker to another. The notification gives the worker enough detail to act on the change without having to log in to find it.
Who Uses This Feature
- Business Owner and Supervisor trigger the notification by assigning, updating, or reassigning a shift.
- Tradie, Apprentice, and any Supervisor assigned to field work receive the notification.
- Sole Trader notifications: the Sole Trader pathway uses the platform’s email pipeline to confirm scheduled shifts to themselves — useful for calendar / inbox visibility.
When To Use It
- A new shift is assigned to a worker.
- A worker’s existing shift is updated (time, location, or worker change).
- A shift is reassigned to a different worker — the new assignee receives the notification.
How It Works
- A Business Owner or Supervisor assigns a worker to a shift (new shift, shift edit, or reassignment).
- The change is saved (for example by selecting Confirm Shift).
- The system identifies the assigned employee from their user profile and sends an email to the address on their staff account.
- The notification email includes the shift date, time, location (where available), and a link back into the app where supported.
- If the employee misses the email, they can still see the assigned shift from their Dashboard schedule and Schedule Stream.

Notes and Limitations
- Trigger timing — confirmed. Staff are notified by email at the time of the change.
- Reassignment — confirmed. The new assignee is notified by email at the time of the reassignment.
- Updates — confirmed. Notifications apply to updated shifts as well as newly assigned shifts.
- Email-only delivery. Notifications are sent to the email address on the worker’s staff account. There is no separate in-app push notification described in the source.
- Sender domain. Notification emails are sent from notifications@mg.myapprentice.app. Add the address to your team’s safe-senders list to avoid spam filtering.
- Dashboard fallback — confirmed. If the email is missed, the worker can still view the assigned shift from the Dashboard schedule.
