Overview

OAuth sign-in lets you sign in to MyApprentice using your Google, Microsoft, or Apple account instead of (or alongside) a MyApprentice password. It is available at sign-up — you can register a new MyApprentice account directly through a provider — and you can also add a provider to an existing email-and-password account so that you can sign in with that provider from then on. This is especially helpful for businesses that already use Google Workspace, Microsoft 365, or Apple sign-in.

Who This Workflow Is For

This workflow applies to every MyApprentice user — OAuth sign-in is available to all roles.

Before You Start

The email address on your provider account must match the email address registered to your MyApprentice account. If you already use an authenticator app or passkey for MFA, keep it — OAuth replaces or supplements the password, but you may still be asked for MFA on privileged actions.

Step-by-Step Process

  1. Decide when you want to set up OAuth:
    • At sign-up. On the sign-up page at the MyApprentice URL, select Continue with Google, Continue with Microsoft, or Continue with Apple, then follow the provider prompts to create the account.
    • After registration. If you already have an email-and-password MyApprentice account, you can add or link an OAuth provider afterwards so that you can sign in with that provider in future.
  2. Choose your provider and follow the steps below.

Sign up or sign in with Google

  1. Open the MyApprentice sign-up or sign-in page.
  2. Select Continue with Google.
  3. Select or enter your Google account and complete the Google prompts.
  4. Grant permission to MyApprentice when prompted. Google returns you to MyApprentice and you are signed in.

Sign up or sign in with Microsoft

  1. Open the MyApprentice sign-up or sign-in page.
  2. Select Continue with Microsoft.
  3. Enter your Microsoft account credentials.
  4. Grant consent when Microsoft asks. You are returned to MyApprentice and signed in.

Sign up or sign in with Apple

  1. Open the MyApprentice sign-up or sign-in page.
  2. Select Continue with Apple.
  3. Authenticate with your Apple ID, Face ID, or Touch ID.
  4. Review and grant consent when Apple asks. You are returned to MyApprentice and signed in.

What Happens Next

The provider is now linked to your MyApprentice account. On future visits, sign in using the same Continue with button you used at registration — Google to Google, Microsoft to Microsoft, Apple to Apple. The password for that sign-in path is managed by the provider, not by MyApprentice. If you also kept an email-and-password login, you can still use it.

Common Issues

  • “Email does not match” error. The provider email must match the email registered to your MyApprentice account. Use the matching provider account or update the email on your MyApprentice account first.
  • You signed up with one provider and try to sign in with another. Sign in with the exact same provider you registered with. The provider account is the credential.
  • Lost access to the provider account. Recover the account with the provider (Google, Microsoft, or Apple). Once you regain access there, you can sign back in to MyApprentice.
  • MFA still prompted. OAuth handles authentication at sign-in; some privileged actions in MyApprentice are MFA-gated. If you have not yet set up MFA, see Set up MFA.
