Who this guide is for
Anyone evaluating MyApprentice before signing up — Business Owners and Sole Traders who want to look around the platform with sample data before committing to a live account.
Overview
Spin up a demo workspace pre-filled with sample jobs, quotes, invoices, and inventory so you can explore the platform in full operation. When you’re ready, switch from demo to a live free trial in a couple of clicks.
Before you start
You do not need an account to start a demo — the demo runs from the MyApprentice landing page.
Spin up a demo
- Open the MyApprentice landing page.
- Select Demo in the top header (next to Login and Sign Up).
- Choose a demo profile — Sole Trader, Small Team, or Large Team. This sets the shape of the sample workspace.
- Choose a demo service type — for example Electrician, Plumber, or Landscaper. This shapes the sample jobs and quotes you’ll see.
- Select Start demo.
- You’re now viewing the demo workspace.
Take the guided demo
The guided demo appears as a pop-out on the right of the screen. It asks what you’d like to see first; each option opens an informative panel describing what you’re looking at.
Available walk-throughs:
- Show me a job — opens the job detail dialogue with quotes, location, materials, client details, Job To-Do’s, internal notes, photos, and schedule all in one place.
- Create a job — walks through picking a client, setting job details, and how scheduling, quoting, and invoicing flow from the job.
- Create a quote — opens the quote page and shows how to add line items, materials, and labour before sending a branded quote.
- Show me a schedule shift — opens the Schedule and prompts you to select a shift on the calendar to view the shift dialogue.
- Schedule a shift — walks through the who, what, and when of putting your team on site. The shift lands on the team calendar and the assigned worker is notified.
- Show me the client portal — shows what the client sees when they receive quotes, invoices, job updates, and other shared information.
You can also select Just browsing to dismiss the guide and explore on your own.
Switching to a free trial (live environment)
A Start free trial pop-out is pinned to the right of the demo screen and stays visible the whole time you’re in demo mode — you can move to live whenever you’re ready, without losing your place in the demo.
- In the Start free trial pop-out (right side of the screen), select Start free trial.
- You’re redirected back to the sign-up pathway on the landing page.
- From there, the live sign-up begins — see Sign Up and Verify Your Email for the eight-step sign-up flow.
If you’d rather keep looking around the demo, select Keep exploring in the same pop-out — it stays put so you can come back to it later.
What happens next
The demo workspace and your live account are completely separate. Demo data is not carried into your live account — when you click Start free trial, you re-enter your business name, service type, and profile details from scratch as part of live sign-up.
Once live sign-up + email verification + MFA are complete, you’ll be taken through the Complete Your First-time Business Setup wizard before you can start using the platform.
Common Issues
- Lost the guided demo pop-out. Refresh the demo page — the pop-out re-appears at the start of each session.
- Where is Start free trial? It’s a separate pop-out pinned to the right of the demo screen — it stays visible the whole time you’re in demo mode, so you can switch to live whenever you’re ready.
- Want to try a different demo profile. Close the current demo (return to the landing page) and select Demo again to choose a new profile or service type.
- Demo data didn’t carry over to live. That’s by design — the demo workspace is sample data, kept separate from your live business. Re-enter your details on the live sign-up form.
