Delete a scheduled shift

Who can do this?

  • The Office Admin · Office Admins
  • The Boss · Business Owners
  • One-Person Show · Sole Traders
  • The Foreman · Supervisors

Overview

Delete a scheduled shift when the work is no longer needed and the shift has not yet started. As a Supervisor you have full delete access on schedules. The deleted shift record can be restored from Document History by the Business Owner if you remove it in error.

Who This Workflow Is For

The Supervisor role. The Business Owner and Admin can also delete scheduled shifts. Finance has read-only schedule access. Tradies and Apprentices cannot delete shifts.

Before You Start

Confirm the work is no longer needed. If the work just needs to move, use Edit a shift or Reassign a shift rather than deleting.

Step-by-Step Process

  1. Open the shift from the Schedule page, the Dashboard, or the job’s Schedule card.
  2. Confirm the shift has not yet started (no clock-in records).
  3. Select Delete shift.
  4. Confirm the deletion. The shift is removed from the schedule. The deleted record stays in Document History.
  5. If a worker was assigned, let them know the shift has been removed so they do not attend.

What Happens Next

The shift drops off the active schedule. Stat cards on the Dashboard refresh to remove it from counts. If the deletion was in error, ask the Business Owner to restore the shift from Document History → Deleted Items (filter by Schedules).

Common Issues

  • Caution — in-progress shifts can be deleted. The platform does not prevent deletion of a shift that has clock-in records. Deleting a shift does not remove any timesheet entries already recorded — those remain on the worker’s timesheet attributed to the original shift. Confirm the shift status before deleting.
  • Worker still sees the shift. Ask them to refresh their dashboard. The shift drops off live views.
  • Need to restore a deleted shift. Document History is Business Owner only. Ask them to restore.
  • Want to keep the work but move it. Use Edit a shift for date/time, or Reassign a shift for a different worker.
