Overview

Shift To-Do’s are the visit-specific task list your Supervisor or Business Owner has set against your shift — for example “Test power isolation”, “Photograph completed work”, “Confirm parts with client on arrival”. Tick each item as you complete it on site. The checklist is your record that the work was done.

Who This Workflow Is For

The Tradie role on their own assigned shifts. Apprentices follow the same process. Supervisors and Business Owners can also tick items.

Before You Start

You should have already opened the shift card and reviewed the details — see Review shift details before attending site. Clock in when you start work — see Clock in and out.

Step-by-Step Process

  1. Open the shift card from the Dashboard schedule stream.
  2. Locate the Shift To-Do’s section on the shift detail.
  3. Work through each item in order. Where the order matters (test before energise, for example), do them in sequence.
  4. As you complete each item, tick it. MyApprentice records the completion time and you against the item.
  5. If a Shift To-Do has been generated by AI for this visit, treat it the same way — tick as you complete.
  6. Continue until the checklist is fully ticked, or until you reach a point where work cannot continue — see What to do when your work could not be completed.

What Happens Next

A fully ticked Shift To-Do checklist signals that the visit’s tasks are done. Upload any required photos, add any notes, and then Mark the shift complete. Your Supervisor or Business Owner finalises the job once all visits are done.

Common Issues

  • Cannot tick a Shift To-Do item. Confirm the shift is assigned to you. You can only tick to-do items on your own assigned shifts.
  • A to-do item doesn’t apply to this visit. Add a shift note explaining and leave the item unticked, or ask your Supervisor to remove it from the shift.
  • More tasks needed than were on the list. Add a shift note describing the extra work — see Add shift notes.
  • AI-generated Shift To-Do looks wrong. Add a shift note flagging it and continue with the items that apply.
