Clock in and out

Who can do this?

  • Learning the Ropes · Apprentices
  • The Boss · Business Owners
  • One-Person Show · Sole Traders
  • The Foreman · Supervisors
  • On the Tools · Tradies

Overview

Clocking in creates a timesheet entry for the shift; clocking out closes the entry. Use this to record your time accurately — your timesheet for the week is built from these entries plus any manual entries you add.

Who This Workflow Is For

This workflow applies to Supervisor and Tradie.

Before You Start

You need a shift assigned to you for today, visible on the Dashboard schedule stream.

Clock behaviour follows the Timesheet entry mode set in Business Settings → Site. Hours mode hides the clock in/out controls (your time is entered manually as hours per shift). Start-and-end-times mode shows the Clock in / Clock out buttons described below.

Step-by-Step Process

Clock in

  1. Open your Dashboard. Find today’s shift in the schedule stream.
  2. Open the assigned shift card.
  3. Select Clock in. MyApprentice records the start time and creates a timesheet entry against the shift. The shift card turns light green to show the active state.
  4. The live status on the Dashboard updates to show you are clocked in.

During the shift

  1. Work through the Shift To-Do’s — see Complete the Shift To-Do checklist.
  2. Add shift notes as you go — see Add shift notes.
  3. Upload photos and evidence — see Upload photos and evidence.

Clock out

  1. Open the shift card.
  2. Select Clock out. MyApprentice records the end time and closes the timesheet entry.
  3. Mark the shift complete where required — see Mark the shift complete.

What Happens Next

The timesheet entry is saved and forms part of your submitted timesheet for the week. At the end of the week, Submit your timesheet for your Supervisor or Business Owner to approve.

Common Issues

  • No Clock in button. Confirm a shift is assigned to you for today. Field roles only.
  • Forgot to clock in. Add a manual timesheet entry against the shift — see Create a manual timesheet entry.
  • Clocked in but cannot clock out. Refresh the page. If the issue persists, complete the shift and adjust the entry via a manual timesheet entry.
  • Already clocked into another shift. Clock out of the first shift before clocking into a new one.
