Two blokes in Perth who got sick of the paperwork
My Apprentice is built by Marcus and Cam, in Perth, Western Australia. There's two of us. That's the whole company. We build it with the trades who use it, we ship most weeks, and when you email support you get one of us — not a call centre, not a ticket queue in another timezone.
Why we built it
Every trade business we talked to had the same shape of problem. The work was fine. The admin around the work was eating the evenings. Quotes written at the kitchen table at nine at night. Invoices that went out a fortnight late because the job finished on a Friday. A supplier invoice in the glovebox that never made it to the job cost, so nobody ever really knew what the job made.
The software that was supposed to fix that mostly wasn't built for a phone. It was a desktop tool with an app bolted on, and the app was the cut-down version — fine for looking things up, no good for actually running the job from the front seat of a ute. So we built the other way around: phone first, laptop second, the whole business in your pocket.
What we believe about pricing
One price per seat, per month. Every feature included at every seat. No premium tier to upgrade into, no add-on modules, and the rate drops as your crew grows rather than climbing. If you don't use half of it, switch that half off — the price doesn't change, the app just gets simpler.
We think feature tiers exist to make software companies money, not to help tradies. So we don't have any. See what it costs.
Built with the trades, not just for them
My Apprentice is used every day by a small, growing group of Australian trade businesses — sparkies, plumbers and landscapers, sole traders and crews. They tell us what's broken and we fix it, usually that week. A fair bit of what's in the product now started as somebody's complaint.
That's also why we'd rather tell you what we don't do. There's no native Android app yet — the full web app runs in any phone browser and it's the complete product, not a cut-down one. There's no SMS to customers. Xero is the only accounting integration. There's no dedicated SWMS or compliance module; you get photo evidence and an audit trail instead. There's no GPS crew tracking, no staged billing and no asset register. All of it is on the list. The FAQ keeps that list honest and up to date.
Where we are
Perth, Western Australia. The product is built here, the support is answered here, and the prices are in Australian dollars with GST handled the way the ATO expects it. When we say "built in Perth for Australian trades", we mean the two of us, in Perth, building it.
My Apprentice is a registered business name of Future Tech Consulting Pty Ltd, ABN 57 670 966 800.
Talk to us
We read everything. If something's broken, if a feature would change your week, or if you just want to know whether this suits how you work before you spend an evening on it — email us. It's the two of us on the other end.
About My Apprentice
Who makes My Apprentice?
Marcus and Cam, a two-person founding team in Perth, Western Australia, trading as Future Tech Consulting Pty Ltd (ABN 57 670 966 800). There is no third party and no outsourced support — the people who build it are the people who answer your email.
Is My Apprentice an Australian company?
Yes. It's built in Perth, WA, priced in Australian dollars, and built around Australian trade-business realities including GST and Xero.
How new is it?
New enough that you can still change where it's going, and far enough along that Australian trade businesses run their week on it. If being early bothers you, that's fair — start with the demo and judge it on the product rather than the launch date.
What happens to my data if you go away?
Your data is yours and it's exportable, always. We're not going anywhere, but you shouldn't have to take that on faith to try software.
