Overview
Tradie is the field role in MyApprentice. As a Tradie you do the on-site work — turn up to your assigned shifts, clock in and out, work through your Shift To-Do checklist, take photos, leave notes, mark the shift complete, and submit your timesheet at the end of the week. The office team — Business Owner, Admin, or Supervisor — schedules your shifts, manages the client side, and handles invoicing. You focus on the work.
Who This Workflow Is For
The Tradie role is for qualified field workers — electricians, plumbers, carpenters, and other trade staff doing the on-site work. Apprentices also do field work but with a more restricted scope. The Supervisor runs the team and assigns your shifts. The Business Owner owns the business; Admin runs the office. Finance handles invoicing and Xero. Admin and Finance are back-office roles and are not scheduled as field workers.
What this role can do
The Tradie profile below is grounded in the confirmed role-based permissions for the platform.
See your assigned work. View jobs, schedules, clients, and quotes only where you are assigned. You see your own upcoming shifts on the Dashboard schedule stream and on the shift card.
Record your time. Clock in and out on your assigned shifts; create manual timesheet entries if you forgot to clock in; edit your own timesheet entries; submit the week for approval. You only see and edit your own timesheets.
Work through Shift To-Do’s. Tick Shift To-Do items as you complete them on site. You can edit your own assigned-shift fields — notes and shift to-do completion — but cannot change the date, time, or worker assignment on a shift.
Capture site notes and evidence. Add shift notes (including flag-an-issue internal notes) and upload photos against your assigned shift.
Mark your work complete. Tick all Shift To-Do’s, upload evidence, leave any needed notes, and mark your shift work complete. The Supervisor or Business Owner finalises the job overall — your role here is to indicate the on-site work is done.
View your own schedule. Open the Schedule page to see your own assigned shifts. You cannot see other workers’ schedules.
Messages (limited). View and reply to message threads scoped to a job you are assigned to. You cannot start a new thread or message clients outside your assigned work.
Manage your own profile. Edit your own name, contact details, and password.
Before You Start
You need a registered Tradie account, invited by the Business Owner or Admin. After accepting the invite, set up MFA on the Customisation → Security tab. Your Business Owner / Admin / Supervisor will assign shifts to you; once a shift is on your dashboard, you can open it and start the day.
